A simulated experience, this video is designed to give viewers a sense of what life was like in the trenches of the Battle of the Somme. Many soldiers suffered from Trench Foot caused by the trenches flooding and becoming muddy from bad weather. Wooden boards called duckboards were added to help prevent this.
