Part of the world heritage site "Heart of Neolithic Orkney", the Ring of Brodgar stands on the thin spit of land between the Stenness Loch to the West and the Harray Loch to the East. It is an enormous ceremonial site dating back to at least 2000BC. In addition to the 36 existing stones (down from the 60 that were originally found here), this site is also home to 13 prehistoric burial mounts.
