The Toadstools are rock formations which look like mushrooms and are located in the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument in southern Utah. These 'toadstools' form because Dakota Sandstone boulders perch atop pedestals of softer Entrada Sandstone. As the Entrada erodes away, the harder Dakota forms a cap, and leaves a rock column sheltered from water and wind. Since 2000 numerous dinosaur fossils have been found in this region.
