Our Solar System and the individual stars we see at night are all within the Milky Way galaxy. From February to September, with clear weather and very dark moonless skies, it is possible to see a band of brighter light across the night sky as we look towards the centre of the Milky Way galaxy, where stars are more concentrated together. Cameras with long exposure times can capture more light than the human eye, so it makes the sight of the Milky Way truly spectacular.
This experience is a spectacular view of the night sky, and the Milky Way galaxy reflected in a still pond, taken in the USA.
