Palmyra was an ancient city in central Syria. In antiquity, it was an important city located in an oasis 215 km northeast of Damascus and 180 km southwest of the Euphrates at Deir ez-Zor.
This experience shows the ancient ruins of the Temple of Bel as they appeared in 2006. The Temple of Bel was intentionally destroyed during the summer of 2015, along with other important archaeological monuments of the World Heritage Site of Palmyra.
