Ancient Egyptian Temple

This scene takes place inside an ancient Egyptian temple and gives students the opportunity to explore some of its key features. The ceiling is held up by ornate columns decorated with hieroglyphics and there are statues of the Egyptian God Anubis leading towards a decorated sarcophagus and several canopic jars.

Students can explore a variety of different gods worshipped by the ancient Egyptians. They should identify the gods worshipped in this temple using evidence from the scene.

Here, students can walk inside and around the temple to learn what an average Egyptian would have done there. Students should be able to examine the environment and look for clues to help them make inferences.

# Hieroglyphics{.objective .objective3}

Looking at the hieroglyphics, students should be able to discuss what they could be representing. Students should also consider how they originated and why they are significant.

# Preparing the Dead{.objective .objective4}

Students can look at how the Egyptians prepared their dead and the process of mumification. Students are asked to look at the canopic jars and consider why they are presented in this way.
