Life Cycle Of A Frog

Travel to a garden pond to see all the key stages in the life cycle of a frog at once! Notice the frog spawn on the water's edge, explore below the water with swimming tadpoles and froglets, then find the adult frog, looking out for flies from a stone beside the pond. Observe the changes in the frog's body and behaviour as it grows into adulthood.

# How does the life cycle of a frog begin?{.objective .objective1}

In this section there is a diagram of a life cycle. By exploring the life cycle, a discussion should allow the development of a description what a life cycle is. The idea that life begins with the introduction of new set of chromosomes to a cell, which triggers the development of an offspring. As the offspring feeds and generates energy, it will develop into an adult, taking on changes from an adolescent. In a frog’s case, losing its gills and developing lungs to live on land, as well as lose its tail and develop limbs. In this activity students are asked to enter the scene to learn about the early stages in a life cycle of a frog.

# What are tadpoles and froglets? {.objective .objective2}

In this section, tadpoles and froglets will be described as well as modelled in the scene. A comparison of both will highlight the features they have in that stage of a life cycle, and the changes that take place from a tadpole to a froglet.

# What does a full-sized frog look like?{.objective .objective3}

In this section, a description of an adult frog will be provided. Full metamorphosis will have taken place, and the changes from the water dwelling tadpole, to the land dwelling frog will be modelled.
