Gold Rush

Welcome to the Sierra Nevada in California, 1848. After gold was discovered here, immigrants from across America rushed West to try and find their fortune and, in this scene, you will get to experience what life was like for one of these miners trying to strike it rich in California.

Gold was discovered in Sierra Nevada, America in 1848. Here, students can explore their surroundings and discuss what this land would have looked like before the Forty-Niners.

# How was Gold Mined? {.objective .objective2}

Many Gold miners used a variety of equipment to mine for Gold. Examine the various tools used and evaluate how effective they were. Can you find any equipment you do not recognise? What do you think it was used for?

# What was life like for Gold Miners?{.objective .objective3}

Whilst people moved West to discover Gold, many people changed the way they lived. In this scene student can infer how many people populated this area and consider what the site would like today.
