A Tale of Two Cities

This scene transports users to a small section of both London and Paris in the late 18th century. Students can explore the area to recall key locations from the novel A Tale of Two Cities, and look for clues referencing some of the main characters in the story. Students are able to reflect upon the key themes which are presented throughout the book.

# London{.objective .objective1}

In this section students can learn about London at the end of the 18th century, and the characters Lucie Manette and Doctor Manette. In this activity students are invited to explore London and learn about the Golden Thread.

# Paris{.objective .objective2}

In this section students can learn about the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror. In this activity students can observe the Paris section of the scene, including the wine shop run by Monsieur and Madame Defarge. In the cellar students can find a section of Madame Defarge’s knitting, which is in fact a coded list of names of enemies of the Revolution

# Redemption and Resurrection{.objective .objective3}

In this section students can learn about Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton. In this activity students are asked to explore the Paris section of the scene and consider what Dickens was trying to tell us in his novel A Tale of Two Cities?
