Description

The Atlantic Slave Trade occurred between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. During this time, 12 million Africans were bought as goods, packed into ships, and were sent across the Atlantic to the Americas, where they were sold as slaves. At the end of the eighteenth century, public opinion began to turn against the slave trade and abolitionists led by William Wilberforce campaigned to the end slavery. In this scene, students can explore a court and learn about his campaigns to end the slave trade.
