The Persian Empire

Persia, (otherwise known as modern-day Iran) is among the oldest inhabited regions in the world. Many archaeological sites in the country have been dated back 100,000 years to the Palaeolithic Age, with settlements established before 10,000 BCE. In this scene, students can explore one area of the Persian Empire and learn what it would have been like to live during the empire!

# The Creation of the Empire {.objective .objective1}

In this section students can learn about the series of dynasties that existed from the 6th century BC to the twentieth century BCE.

In this scene students are asked to describe the environment and identify who ruled over the province.

# Living in the Persian Empire {.objective .objective2}

In this sections student can learn about how most people who lived in the empire were farmers. They can look at their housing conditions and learn about Persian culture in detail.

Students are asked to walk around the scene and look for inventions that were introduced in the empire.

# The Fall of the Empire {.objective .objective3}

In this section student can learn about how the Persian Empire fell during the reign of Darius's son, Xerxes and how Persia was conquered by Alexander the Great in 334BCE.

Here students can look around the scene and consider the strengths and weaknesses of building and upholding an empire
