Gates Fort, Bermuda, built circa 1612 and 1615, sits right on the edge of Town Cut, a hugely important channel created for ships to enter the St. George Harbour. Because of its vantage point, this fort was also originally built to defend the town of St. George from enemy or suspect ships coming in from the North Atlantic Ocean.
