Mythical Lion Sculpture

Yim Yim - The Protector Shizi (狮子 - lion)

Eric Tobua, is an artist renowned for his amazing fashion headpieces, sculptures, installations and set designs. Made of recycled waste materials found in Chinatown and factories around the city, the found objects have guided Eric’s creative decisions throughout the three months process. Standing tall protecting ASAI Chinatown is a lion with the tail of a dragon, representing not only the hybrid between two Chinese mythical creatures, but also the neighbourhood’s identity through its motifs and ornaments.

Eric’s work have given a new value to seemingly useless objects. The sculpture demonstrates that beauty can be found when creativity is put in place, and that there is no waste when creative minds have given it a new worth.

This can be located at the lobby in ASAI Chinatown Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
