Kangaroos are mammals that belong to the animal family Macaropus. They have extremely powerful hind legs, a long, strong tail, and small front legs. Thanks to their large feet, they can travel more than 30 miles (48 kilometres) per hour and leap to around 30 feet (9 meters) in a single movement. They are indigenous to Australia and can be found throughout Eastern Australia. Kangaroos are social mammals; they live in small troops or mobs of 50 or more animals, including baby kangaroos called joeys.
