Description

Inoceramids is a extinct group of pteriomorph bivalves. They form a massive shells of different shapes with the typical growth lines forming concentric elevations/ribs. Internal shell structure is characterized by calcitic prisms. Representatives of Inoceramids lived in the Cretaceous period (ca 130‒66 Ma). The largest shells exceeded to almost 1,5 meters. They were cosmopolitans.
