Description

Fullerene structure ā€’ Modification of coal

**Molecular formula:** Cā‚†ā‚€

**Molar mass:** 720,67 g/mol

**Information:** Fullerenes are molecules composed of carbon atoms arranged in layers that may take a geometric shape resembling that of a sphere, an ellipsoid, a tube (called nanotube) or a ring. Fullerenes are similar to graphite, consisting of sheets of hexagonal rings linked but containing pentagonal rings and sometimes heptagonal, which prevents the sheet to be flat. Due to this structure, they are extremely resistant to external physical influence. In the cavity of fullerene molecules can be enclosed other or few atoms or even a small molecule.
