**Information:** Ammonia (azan, formerly ammonia) is a colourless, toxic gas with a pungent smell easily liquefied due to the strong hydrogen bonding between the molecules.

**The use of:** Ammonia is used for the production of nitric acid and nitrogen fertilizers. It is used as a refrigerant in industrial refrigeration systems.

**Occurrence:** It comes from the disintegration of nitrogenous organic compounds.
