D-Glucose

**Information:** D-glucose (also called dextrose, grape sugar) is the most common monosaccharide.

**Use:** Glucose is used in medicine as part of artificial feeding.

**Appearance:** It occurs as free (in fruits and in honey) and as bound like in the form of oligosaccharides (e.g. sucrose, lactose, maltose) and polysaccharides (e.g. starch and cellulose).
