Description

DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) are made from nucleotides. Nucleotides consist of: nitrogenous heterocyclic bases (adenine, cytosine, guanine, thymine and uracil), sugar components - pentoses

(D-2-deoxyribose in DNA, ribose in RNA) and phosphoric acid (phosphate). The nucleoside is formed by a nitrogen base and pentose. The nitrogen base is attached to the pentose by an N-glycoside bond (i.e., through a nitrogen atom).
