Description

**Petrology:** Amphibole (actinolite and tremolite) and plagioclase are rock-forming minerals associated with accessory minerals e.g., pyroxene, biotite, quartz, scapolite, almandine (garnet).

**Genesis:** Amphibolite can be formed by regional metamorphism of ultramafic and mafic rocks (gabro, diorite, basalts, andesites) at temperatures from 500 to 700 °C and pressure from 0.2 to 1.0 GPa, approximately 10‒30 kilometres below the Earth’s surface. Amphibolite is a common dimension stone used in construction, paving, facing of buildings, especially because of its attractive textures, hardness, polishability and availability.
