Conic Sections ‒ Description

by Corinth

Description

Conic section is formed by the intersection of a plane with the surface of the rotary cone. The simplest section curve is a circle. Another conic sections are an ellipse, parabola and hyperbola.

**Types of conic sections**:

- The ellipse is a curve which each point is given by two points in the same plane and the sum of their distances.

- Hyperbole is a conic section, for every point, the absolute value of the difference of distances from two fixed points given is always the same.

- A parabola is a curve which has a constant distance between a given line and any point that does not lie on that line.
