Description

The solar system is a planetary system, to which Earth belongs. The most significant, biggest and heaviest body of the solar system is the central star ‒ Sun. It concentrates 99,9% of total mass in the solar system and thanks to its gravity it binds the rest of the bodies, which rotate around it. These bodies include eight planets, some dwarf planets, asteroids, comets and minor interplanetary mass. The eight planets can be divided evenly into two groups - four planets are rocky (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars) and four are so-called gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune).

The sizes of bodies and orbits in the visualized model of the Solar system don't correspond with reality. Only the sizes of planets OR orbits are in correct proportion - but both are on a different scale.
