# Encounter Nature’s Ocean Predators

Deep dive into the amazing world of sharks and discover how these much-maligned fish are specially adapted to life in the oceans. Submerging themselves in these resources, your students will understand how the preferred habitat or feeding patterns may vary across species, but all are built to survive and feed.

## Key Learning Outcomes:

1. Describe the climate and habitat of sharks
2. Explain how a shark is adapted to survive in a marine environment
3. Explain the adaptations of a shark as an apex predator

## How to Use This Playlist:

This playlist is designed to help your students understand the shark as a marine predator.

Here are some suggestions on how to use the resources:

***360 Videos*** – By experiencing the videos, students can observe how some sharks are found on shallow coastal reefs while others inhabit pelagic waters. Each shark has advantages: the agile blacktip reef shark can twist and turn around coral, whereas the great white prefers to attack from below – the element of surprise!

***3D Models*** – These shark models allow students to get a close-up view of the most important adaptations of a shark. The body is rounded and tapered at both ends to allow water to flow easily with minimal drag. The fins aid in balance and direction as well as movement.

***360 Image*** - Students can see how the whitetip reef shark stalks a reef in search of prey. Students should consider why the diver wears a black and white wetsuit, and why this might deter an attack!
